Life, thoughts and updates
I try to keep this blog as free from personal ramblings as possible. But every once in a while, I think it’s good to write a little bit about what’s going on in my life.
I have a couple of exciting ‘photo-related’ things in sight. I will be showing in two group shows, both in January! One of them is being independently organized by the artists, and will happen at Blush. The other one was an offer that came out of nowhere by the lovely organizers at the Orlando Public Library! I will post more info on this as I get it.
I will also be attending Art Basel and Art Miami this week, it’s my first time at those events and I’m excited to see all the great art! If you are going as well, hit me up!
Besides that, I’ve been doing a surprisingly small amount of personal photography. My dolls have been enjoying a well-deserved break, and I’m concentrating on other projects. I started writing, a lot, which I hadn’t done since High School. It’s a funny transition, because back then, I wrote in Portuguese. Now, I write in English. It’s not that I am suddenly unable to write in my own native language; but after living here for six years, I’ve learned to think, dream, and breathe in English. Don’t worry though, I still at least read a lot in Portuguese. And who knows, I may at some point translate these writings on my own.
On that note, I got inspired and bought this (on credit! Yay.):

It’s a Dell Inspiron Mini 9. I wanted something small and light for me to carry around, so whenever I get that urge to write stuff down, it will be there. I mainly had my upcoming trips in mind (Miami this week, Brazil the next!). It doesn’t even have Windows, it’s Linux. I plan on downloading some sort of free writing software, and that’s it.
Speaking of computers, my goal for next year is to get a Macbook Pro. I’m ready to switch to Apple. I don’t have many complaints about my current computer (A HP Pavillion Entertainment Notebook), but after working with a Mac, I can see why people (specially visual artists) prefer it over PCs. We’ll see.
Now for the useless stuff.
I’ve been playing SO MUCH Animal Crossing: City Folk! I’ve been a fan since the Game Cube version, and now this has me hooked. If you want to play with me, leave a comment with your info. Here is mine:

So fun! Anyway, for those who were wondering, our Thanksgiving feast was a success! I now know I can cook a turkey.
I will end this post with a random music recommendation. I usually keep this whole music stuff to myself, because people can get so caught up in what they listen to and how new and obscure it is and how it may or may not define who they are… and it annoys me to no end! But anyway, I’ve been listening to a lot of Agua de Annique, led by The Gathering’s former vocalist, Anneke van Giersbergen. She has brought a lot of the more progressive, ambient sound into this new project, and I really like it. She is no doubt one of the most amazing singers out there, and want to be just like her when I grow up. Ok, just kidding about that last bit (maybe). Check out some of their music on myspace! And while you’re at it, check out The Gathering’s page too.
Time for me to sleep and stop blabbing. Good night!
